- ONLY HER HAIRDRESSER KNOWS FOR SURE!
The majority of the victims
of domestic violence are women and what professional do
women usually see more often than any other-their
hairstylist! And, it’s very common that women develop a
close, trusted relationship with their stylist and even
confide in them, instead of their family or friends,
about abuse at home.
On today’s
show, Crime Prevention Specialist Susan Bartelstone
interviews Dianne Mooney, founder of CUT IT OUT, a
national program that educates salon professionals to
recognize signs of domestic abuse in their clients and
safely refer those clients to local resources for help;
and Christina Kauffman, an educator from the Empire
Education Group, the nation’s largest system of
cosmetology schools, which supports CUT IT OUT by
teaching their more than 11,000 students how to respond
to clients suffering from abuse. Tune in and learn how a
haircut and a caring conversation could save a life!
This show will blow you away (or maybe that’s blow
dry?).
